Breaking In....
....a new comedy on Fox premiering this Wednesday.....
"Follow the antics of a group of zany 20-somethings as they apply their individual unique talents to testing the security systems of their
corporate clients. A fast paced, hilarious romp through contemporary corporate America and the threats it faces."
A publicity blurb from Fox, you ask ? No ! I wrote it myself without ever having seen anything about the show other than the brief blurbs on TV....we all have our modest talents in life.
Whether or not it proves to be watchable, it does have one thing going for it. Odette Yustman is the female lead. Although she had appeared in various productions, it wasn't until her role as Beth in Cloverfield that she attracted the attention of dedicated fan-boys. Her death by being buried alive in a tunnel in Central Park at the end of Cloverfield was uncalled for especially since the alternate ending on the DVD set had her being rescued. J. J. Abrams has earned undying enmity for this... Lately she has appeared in various B-movies including the Undead which plays ceaselessly on cable...
Also, she has changed her last name to Annable, apparently because she has married her fiance Dave Annable, an obscure actor who has or had a role on Brothers and Sisters, which I have never seen so can't comment on his talent.. [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] Anyway, it was a mistake for her to change her name. Hardly any professional actresses do that. Why would she? Re: Breaking In....
Odette is a hottie for sure. I may check this show out now. Plus not much else to watch on Wednesdays.

Re: Breaking In....
That could be.....but it's confusing to her fan-boys. Since she comes from a Hispanic/Latin family, I wonder why her father's name is Yustman which sounds more like a Dutch name which is not unknown as one Hispanic name since the Spanish did rule Holland for a time in the 15th-16th Centuries. It reminds me of Cobie Smulders, whose name is Dutch even though her ancestry is Spanish.

Re: Breaking In....
So what do we think ? My initial "review" still stands but I see that they have gone with the "witty repartee, clever put-downs, and general "hip" dialog " comprehensible only to those who fancy themselves on the cutting edge of contemporary American urban culture.
True to accepted stereotypical casting, the black guy gets the most "hip" and obscure dialog. Of course the obligatory 'super high-tech' caper is carried out with an R/C helicopter....what they did is essentially impossible, then later the same caper is done with the most 'low tech' means, ie, smashing a window with a rock. By adding expensive cars and a few glimpses of Odette in tight pants (who didn't get any hip dialog, you will note ) they redeem themselves. By adding a redneck, Hummer driving good-'ol-boy as Odette's boyfriend (she assures us that previous boyfriends were simple "tools" ) we can assume that he will reappear to provide a comic contrast to the other ultra-cool characters.
Whether Odette's tight pants will remain a staple remains to be seen, but I predict that at least one episode will require her to pose as a pole-dancer or related occupation in order for them to carry out the "caper".

Re: Breaking In....
I'm certain they will capitalize/utilize/exploit Odette's sex appeal in upcoming episodes.

Re: Breaking In....
Okay, I think we can safely predict the demise of this turkey before the end of its scheduled number of episodes. The writing is incomprehensible, the actors flounder with it and putting Odette in tight costumes can't salvage it....sorry. Last night everyone is in blue jump suits except Odette who had to wear a black vinyl number. We are not all 14 years old and prefer that our hot heroines aren't objectified to the point of silliness.....sorry.

Re: Breaking In....
.....and one other thing while I'm on my rant.... I noticed one scene where there was a street sign in the background. It said Mcmanus Av. , Culver City. So I looked it up in MS Streets & Trips. Yes there is such a street. It's only ~3 blocks long, just south of the I-10 and west of La Cienega Bl. But that doesn't help lend realism to the show.....sorry....
