The Dresden Files
A book series by Jim Butcher has been made into a tv series. I have watched from the beginning. It's likeable and getting better and better. I hope it gets renewed but no decision has been made yet.

Re: The Dresden Files
I always watch it. I suppose it would have been better to have read the books first, but we're gradually learning the back-stories and "hints and tricks" . Next week is the season finale. I hope it gets renewed. I prefer the pure supernatural episodes with the gobblededook dialog, like this week with the office being transported to the "death zone" . The ones where they find a body killed by a monster or something are more routine and not as entertaining.

Re: The Dresden Files
A good hint that they will be renewed is that the powers that be have just talked to Jim Butcher about licensing some Dresden stuff to sell.

Re: The Dresden Files
I definitely liked the episodes at the end of the season. Why have a show about a wizard and not show off his powers? I really liked those eps best.

I live in hopes that James Marsters will be asked to play a guest role in the 2nd season....there's a character called Thomas Raith that he would be perfect for. :bounce:

Re: The Dresden Files
OOOH! I am thinking 'positive' that it will return. I would like to see this show go a little more to the mental on the mystical fiction....don't know if I expressed that well. I need to think as well as watch.
But I truely want it back. I have a lot of questions about Harry. What was the trouble his mother was in? Why is he really keeping so a low key when all is known about his moment of black magic. Why dosen't he use his magic to keep from getting beaten up? Tell us more about his family lineage.
Although this break is giving me time to read the book (s) before it returns, I can still watch the show via Tivo.

Write the SciFi Channel and ask them to renew The Dresden Files
We've learned that the SciFi Channel hasn't decided yet whether or not to renew The Dresden Files
for a second season. Rumor has it that this decision will be made
sometime in May or June -- so there's still time for us to let them
know we'd like to see more of this show!
If you've enjoyed The Dresden Files, please take a minute to write the SciFi Channel and ask them to put this show back
on the air for one more season.
Two ways to contact the SciFi Channel:
Snail Mail: I'm told that a postcard or letter from a fan has a much bigger impact on tv execs than email,
so if you can spare the time, here are the two individuals you want to write:
Mark Stern, Executive VP Original Programming
NBC Universal/Sci-Fi Channel
100 Universal City Plaza, Bld. 1440, 14th Fl.
Universal City, CA 91608
Bonnie Hammer, President
NBC Universal/Sci-Fi Channel
30 Rockefeller Plaza
New York, NY 10112
Email: If you have time for both, or if you can't manage snail mail, you could also send an email to:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
No
need to write a masterpiece -- a short, polite note telling them what
you like about the show and asking them to keep it going is enough. If
you've introduced others to the show, it probably wouldn't hurt to
mention that either.
Want a little more help writing your letter?

Re: The Dresden Files
As an old jump-on-any-bandwagon to join a letter writing campaign to save a show I like....I believe,in this case,it is unnecessary. Dresden Files is MADE by Scifi, got good enough ratings and they've contacted Butcher about giving them the right to license products based on his book....if that doesn't spell "renewal",I don't know what does. :whee:

Dresden Files
Oh Berry, I hope so. Scifi listen to the viewer, don't they? This show for me, was like Roswell, it touched your imagination as well as your sole.
There is so much room for developing the character line up. The first season did not give much in terms of the Dresden linage of the magic world, so they could forward or backwards in time while currently saving the world.
Waiting and watching

Wonder how many of those "Jericho nuts" were once "Roswell Dreamers?" Well good for them for getting 7 more episodes... I will miss Ramey's character very much....but it will be interesting to see what happens now. Will it go beyond the 7 episodes? I'd be surprised.

Hi all!
Just saw this at the Sci-Fi Channel's board and thought it might be of interest to those who LOVED The Dresden Files!

Sit-In: A form of peaceful protest where protesters sit in an appropriate place and refuse to move.
On November 9th, the Sci-Fi Channel is airing the first repeats of the Dresden Files since the end of Season 1 – this is our opportunity to form our own peaceful protest of the Dresden Files’ non-renewal!
Since we’re scattered across the country and the world, we can’t hold a Sit-In in one location – unless we do it VIRTUALLY!!
SO:
ALL Dresden Files fans are hereby invited/encouraged/requested to converge on the Dresden Forum on scifi.com on Nov. 9th at 6:45 PM ET for a Dresden Files View-In!
Sci-Fi Channel is paid by companies advertising on their website, and therefore keeps track of the ‘traffic’ the site receives. So let’s show them the power of the Dresden Files fans and the magic of Harry & Bob!!
We’ll watch the episode, laugh and have fun, trade comment posts with fellow fans, and most importantly – show the Sci-Fi Channel execs and the media, by the SHEER NUMBER of us logged on and posting, that the Dresden Files IS loved & supported by a HUGE fan base and will continue to be so during Season 2+!!!I hope to ‘see’ everyone here – and tell your friends & family!

This was on James Marsters Official site today:
JAMES TO RECORD FIFTH DRESDEN
[11-6-07] James has been contracted to read his fifth book on tape in the Dresden Files book series. Although Death Masks is the next book in sequence, he will be recording Small Favor, which is the most recent in the series and, according to the Dresden Files website, due for release April, 2008. James will be in the studio later this month to begin the project. A new publishing company, Penguin Audio, has been hired to release the book. More details to be posted when available.

Dresend is back!
My Tivo actually taped the show! I have watched it, Oh, about 20 times now. I hope it is on again tonight.
Wheeler is out late tonight, so I get to spend the evening first watching Roswell (3 or 4 epis) and then dresend files.

Cool beans. Also this Saturday is a special made-for-tv movie of Battlestar Gallactica:Razor. I think it's a prequel where you don't need to know what has already happened on that show. It just shows you how it came to be.
