How I Met Your Mother #3
Good grief Gertie ! I would have preferred Ted and Robin, but Ashley Williams is a good second choice. As to Barney and Robin, jeez I don't know what to think. How will this play out next season ? I mean obviously he couldn't do better than Robin, the reciprocal is less true, but can he settle down ? We don't need a bunch of episodes with Robin chasing him around trying to see if he's remaining faithful. And please, don't let Marshall and Lily deteriorate into an "Up All Night" scenario. BTW, Alyson will be having her real baby shortly. :D
‘How I Met Your Mother’s Weepy Finale Reveals Barney’s Bride and More!
by Tracy Phillips | May 15, 2012 at 9:17 AM | How I Met Your Mother
There wasn’t a dry eye on the couch after Monday night’s seventh-season finale of “How I Met Your Mother,”
in which the identity of Barney’s bride was finally revealed, Marshall
and Lily’s baby was born and given the mother of all baby names, and
Ted’s “one that got away” made a surprise return.
***SPOILER ALERT***
The big reveals made for a satisfying send-off for the season:
~ Barney won the chance to give Marshall and Lily’s baby a middle name, which is … wait for it … Marvin Waitforit Eriksen!
~ Ted drives off into the sunset with … Victoria (Ashely Williams)
aka “the one that got away” after she ditches her fiance on her wedding
day!
~ And despite Barney proposing to Quinn (Becki Newton) in the
flashback, in the final moments of the episode we flash to Barney’s
wedding — a scene teased to viewers previously — as the camera slowly
pans to a bride in her wedding gown … and it’s Robin!
“It had to be Robin,” showrunner Craig Thomas tells TV Guide. “There
was just no other way … “We always knew it was gonna be Barney and
Robin.”

TV shows and their writers are known for trickery. Don't bet that Robin and Barney are getting married. there could be several explanations. Writers have certainly got themselves and characters out of more tricky situations...

You could be right Rus. And after seeing this scene :
" in the final moments of the episode we flash to Barney’s
wedding — a scene teased to viewers previously — as the camera slowly
pans to a bride in her wedding gown … and it’s Robin!".............I didn't get the definite feeling that she was there to marry Barney in spite of what Thomas says. She and Barney weren't in the same scene just apparently at the same wedding.
Also, I noticed that those scenes were preceded by the statement on the screen, "A little way down the road".....this implies that it took place in the future.
So next season if they revert to the present time where Robin and Barney aren't married to anyone, how will that play out ? The audience will know what happens in the future so anything that they do "now" will seem redundant. Of course "a little way down the road" may mean what happens in the summer hiatus so when next season starts they will be married, to someone, which is what I assumed originally.

Well of course, and that's not the first time.
"Or Robin could be marrying someone else and Ted is at the wedding."..........that was one theory but the writers/exec. prods. have already said that they always "knew" that Robin must end up with Barney.....so....

I voted for Plan B. The writers are good enough to pull off a "Mother reveal" earlier in S9 then sustain the plot lines for the entire season. To reveal the mother then just end it wouldn't feel right.

‘How I Met Your Mother’ Reveals Season 8 Returning Guest-Stars
by Paulette Cohn | August 24, 2012 at 12:28 PM | Fall TV Preview 2012, How I Met Your Mother
A scene from the Sept. 24 premiere of "How I Met Your Mother" (Monty Brinton/CBS)
When “How I Met Your Mother” returns for its eighth season premiere, Robin (Cobie Smulders) will be experiencing such major pre-wedding jitters on her pending nuptials to Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) that Ted (Josh Radnor) tries to calm her nerves by recalling an applicable story from his never-ending supply. In this instance, it is the tale of how he insisted on leaving a note for Victoria’s (Ashley Williams) jilted fiancé (Thomas Lennon as Klaus) before the two run off together. So will Robin go through with the wedding? You will have to tune into the premiere on September 24 to find out.

As Ted continues to unfold the story of how he met the mother of his children, favorite characters from past seasons will once again return to take on their roles in the tale. Among those confirmed to return are Chris Elliot, Bob Odenkirk, Joe Manganiello, Ashley Williams, and Michael Trucco.
“We’re so proud of — and flattered by — the caliber of guest stars who appear on ‘How I Met Your Mother,’” executive producer Craig Thomas said in making the announcement. “These are all amazing actors that we’re just huge fans of. The fact that they wanted to do the show even once? Amazing. The fact that they all still like us and wanted to come back? Even better!”
Here is the breakdown from CBS on which characters the guest stars play and when they were last seen on the show:
Chris Elliot is back as Lily’s father Mickey, who was there to see his new grandson after she gave birth, in the episode “The Magician’s Code, Part One,” on May 14, 2012. This season, Mickey is still mooching off of Lily and Marshall.
The last time Bob Odenkirk appeared as Arthur Hobbs, Marshall’s old boss, was in season six’s episode “The Perfect Cocktail,” when the Arcadian hotel was finally knocked down to make room for the new GNB headquarters. The episode aired Monday, May 21, 2011. Bob returns as Barney’s lawyer (better call Saul ! )who helps him draw up a pre-nup before he marries Quinn.
Brad, Marshall’s pal from law school played by Joe Manganiello, appeared in season five’s premiere, “Definitions,” in which Robin and Barney finally define their new relationship. The episode aired Monday, Sept. 21, 2009. Brad and Marshall’s friendship will be put to the test this season.
Ashley Williams is back as Victoria, Ted’s ex-girlfriend who ran out on her own wedding and into the arms of Ted during the season seven finale, “The Magician’s Code, Part Two,” on Monday, May 14, 2012. Victoria is back, and she and Ted are still going strong.
And Nick, Robin’s crush played by Michael Trucco, was last seen in the season six episode, “Hopeless” on April 11, 2011. After alluding to a future relationship, Robin and Nick finally get together.

Abby Elliott Books First Post-’SNL’ Role on ‘How I Met Your Mother’

Abby Elliot is following in her father’s footsteps. The “SNL” alum has signed on for a guest arc on the upcoming eighth season of “How I Met Your Mother.”
Add “HIMYM” to Your Queue
The twenty-five year-old actress, whose dad Chris Elliott has a recurring role as Lily’s (Alyson Hannigan) father Mickey Aldrin, will play Janeane, “the craziest girl the HIMYM gang has ever encountered,” executive producer Craig Thomas tells Entertainment Weekly.
“And the strange, inexplicable phenomenon is: the crazier Janeane gets, the more attractive one of the gang finds her,” Thomas teases.
Earlier this month Elliott announced her exit from “Saturday Night Live” after spending four seasons on the long-running sketch show.
The eighth season of “How I Met Your Mother” premieres on Monday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c on CBS.
Watch Elliott in an “SNL” sketch with Zooey Deschanel:

Anna Camp had a funny part in the latest ep. Quite different than True Blood.

Re: How I Met Your Mother #3
I'm not really finding this season to be funny but it is becoming annoying and uninteresting. Have the writers changed or is there just nothing new? Dragging out this wedding or arrival to the wedding (in Marshall's case), over several episodes is not appealing to me. I think people want Ted to meet the #%@* mother already. Enough of this dragging things out. Or maybe it's just me.

Re: How I Met Your Mother #3
I think you're right Rus. The comedic aspects are missing compared to previous seasons. Ted already has met the 'mother' who has been generally approved of by fans, I'm ambivalent. Cobie is already 'moving on' and has made several movies in the last year or two, so at least she'll be around. She'll next be seen in this:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2387559/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_5
..and will be back as Maria Hill in the Avenger series.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1130627/bio?ref_=nm_ov_bio_sm
I would hope that sometime she will be tapped to host SNL. Seeing her in skits with her husband would be funny.

Re: How I Met Your Mother #3
Cobie was on Letterman last night in a very distinctive dress and wowed poor old Dave and the band leader. She was plugging her new movie, Delivery Man. Dave said something like, "Given the obvious evidence, your daughter must be a very good looking child." Cobie said, "Yes, she is very good looking". She takes compliments well without coyness or false modesty, and she's had to have plenty of practice. She said she and everyone was sad to leave HIMYM, but is looking forward to a movie career "if they'll have me", which they already have several times.
She told how her mother , who is British, wound up living in Vancouver. When her mother was about 20 she signed up on a large sailing ship which caught fire off the west coast. They were rescued by a American Navy ship and taken to Vancouver. She decided to stay and Cobie and her four brothers were born there. In her interviews she usually imitates her mother's British accent telling Cobie about some adventure in her life. This time she told how her mother was impressed by the treatment she received on the American Navy ship...."Oh Cobie, my undies were pressed and folded so nicely".....
Dave being his usual denseness, asked about her husband, again, and this time she did mention that he's on SNL but still didn't say his name. Dave asked her about becoming a U.S. citizen and she said that now that she's married to an American she's working on the final steps, what ever they are ....
Then she showed Dave how to take a 'selfie' with his phone. He was of course clueless.
Of all the TV actresses working today.....there is just something about her.....

What spin off ? That "Friends" thing with Van Der Beek isn't actually a spin off is it, sounds like a more original concept, not that that guarantees success..
