How I Met Your Mother
I originally started watching this to see how Alyson Hannigan would do in an entirely different role than Buffy, although I already knew she was good at comedy from the American Pie role, and she does okay on HIMYM. But then I "noticed" :randy: that there is also a knockout brunette on the show that I didn't recognize. I went for quite awhile wondering who it was then decided that if I watched the credits closely an unfamilar women's name would popup and voila ! That would have to be her. So I watched and didn't see any likely candidates and matched all the names with the actors, except one..."Cobie Smulders"....? What the ....? Surely no parent would hang a name like that on what would have had to have been a very pretty baby....Smulders as a last name was uncharacteristic enough.. But no...that's her, although her real name is Jacoba Fransisca Maria, so maybe "Cobie" is just as well. Anyway, watching her is worth the program although Neal Patrick Harris' character can be wearing at times. The teachers fell over themselves, so I've heard, when he was a student at La Cueva H. S., my daughter's alma mater. He was a year ahead of her.
So here's a good video clip of her putting up with an interview from some dork...

Re: How I Met Your Mother
To answer their question....no, I don't think that Cobie should be pregnant on the show since she isn't married and certainly not with Barney ! Yikes ! Alyson is a different matter since she is married to her show husband.

Spoiler Alert: Robin Scherbatsky is the Mother! Or
rather, she's going to be a mother. People reports that Cobie Smulders
of How I Met Your Mother and actor Taran Killam are expecting their
first child. This comes just weeks after the announcement that her
costar Alyson Hannigan is having a baby with hubby Alexis Denisof. Congrats, ladies! Cobie's
man Taran has appeared on MadTV, Nick Cannon's Wild 'N Out and a little
show called How I Met Your Mother. (Cute fact: He and Cobie were born
two days apart, according to IMDb.) Happy news, right? And yet
the mind boggles: What is in the water over at How I Met Your Mother?
Fertility experts should tap that stuff, 'cause it seems to be mighty
potent! Also, will the producers be stocking up on oversize laundry
baskets and handbags, or might their characters, Lily and Robin, be
preggo, too? Well... There's no telling yet--HIMYM
bosses Craig Thomas and Carter Bays aren't leaking any secrets about
onscreen offspring, but Alyson did tell us that so far, they have been
hiding her bump on the show. (She's now already in her second
trimester, so chances are, they'll just keep hiding it...Unless there's
some kind of wacky time jump.) What do you guys think? Should
either Robin or Lily have a baby on How I Met Your Mother? And if it's
Robin who gets pregnant, should the dad be Barney or Ted?

I like it that Cobie is getting a lot of screen time this season. I love her full name.

Remember the episode where she convinced the rest of the "crew" to get up at 3am so they could see her early morning news ? Then they sat there arguing amongst themselves ignoring the TV while it showed Robin delivering a baby on-set, giving CPR to a collapsed man, and I don't remember what all...

Stacy Keibler Dishes On Sexy HIMYM Kiss
by Greg Hernandez
Jan 7th, 2010 | 9:32 AM | Comments 3
You really can’t blame Stacy Keibler
for feeling like breaking into a little song and dance. The 30-year-old
actress is coming off what she calls “the best job of my life,” a guest
spot on the very musical 100th episode of CBS’s ‘How I Met Your Mother‘ airing Monday January 11 (8:00-8:30 PM, ET/PT) on CBS.
The former professional wrestler finished third on ‘Dancing With the Stars‘ during the show’s second season and has guest-starred on such shows as ‘Psych‘, ‘October Road‘ and ‘What About Brian‘. But the HIMYM gig is her highest-profile role yet.
She had just finished working out with her trainer in West Hollywood
when she called to chat about appearing in the landmark episode of the
CBS sitcom as the dream girl of suit-wearing Barney [Neil Patrick
Harris].
Of all the episodes of How I Met Your Mother a person could appear in, the 100th seems like hitting the guest star jackpot.
I’m so excited to see it. I play the new bartender at the bar and it
was the greatest experience I’ve ever had on a set, truly a dream job.
That cast, I cannot say enough amazing things about them as actors and
as people. They were so nice and funny and I was sad when it was all
over. What an episode to be on! To have 100 episodes of any show is
pretty hard to do because shows are coming and going to fast these days.
And to be cast as Barney’s dream girl? That’s seems like a pretty big compliment!
When I read it i was like, ‘Wow! I can’t believe I’m playing this role.’ I was extremely flattered.
You have a background as a female wrestler. Do you get Barney in a headlock?
I do not. I have not been in the [wrestling] business for almost four
years and I do not bring out any of my old wrestling moves.
Do you and Barney get together?
He’s interested but I do not like guys who wears suits. He comes in not
wearing a suit and it leads into a huge musical number involving suits.
I was in the beginning of the number. It’s such a big production and
it’s so fun.
.
You’re the one who was on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ and yet you don’t get to do any dancing in that number. Hardly seems fair.
It was killing me to not have a bigger part in the production number. I
just wanted to be out there doing kicks and being a part of it. I was
just sitting there and talking to them and watching everyone.
How was it to work with Neil Patrick Harris? He seems like a lot of fun.
He’s fantastic, fun and smart. I just think he’s brilliant and I was
blown away by him as a person and an actor. He’s so talented in so many
ways.
I gotta know, do you and Barney get to lock lips at all?
We do! It was lovely. I think [Neil] is incredibly sexy because he’s so talented and so great.
So where will you be watching Monday night’s episode?
My friends are like, ‘We should have a viewing party!’ But I don’t
know. For me, it’s probably better to watch at home with maybe just a
few friends over.

From TV guide...Reminder for tonight:
The 100th episode calls for something really special, and that would be a... wait for it (more later). Barney meets a beautiful bartender, played by Stacy Keibler, who makes him decide between her and his trademark suits, and the dilemma leads to (OK, now it's time)... a big musical number!

Re: How I Met Your Mother
Is it my imagination or have they changed Cobie's make-up for the new season in some subtle way ? In earlier seasons she did have brighter, somewhat more "garish", for lack of a better word, make-up as compared to the past few seasons. But this season she appears more "softer" or something , in her make-up as if they are trying to make her look older or more mature. Not that I'm complaining, but her fan-boys notice these things. I haven't been on the forums/blogs to see if anyone else has noticed it.

Neil Patrick Harris Slams Eric Braeden for Bailing on Role
by Sara Bibel
Dec 18th, 2010 | 12:04 PM | Comments 135
“The Young & the Restless” star Eric Braeden has been called many things: daytime’s biggest star, a multiple Emmy winner, the mustache. “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick Harris has another name for him: D-bag.
Braeden was scheduled to appear as Robin’s macho father on the
popular sitcom, a role he first played in a 2008 episode of the show.
Apparently, he thought that his character did not have a big enough part
this time around, so he backed out at the last minute.
So Harris took to Twitter to proclaim, “”Eric Braeden is a D-Bag. The
actor, (Robin’s dad) agreed to a cameo, then last night bailed, saying
the part wasn’t ’substantial’ enough.”
His follow-up Tweet revealed that the role had been recast: “”We’ve recast with Ray Wise, a fantastic actor who makes any part ’substantial’. Super excited to welcome him to the family!”
Oh, snap. This incident is going to become legend – wait for it –
dary in the soap world. Braeden has long been known for his Alpha Dog
behavior. Sometimes it seems as if there’s a thin line between where
Braeden ends and his character, powerful billionaire Victor Newman,
begins.
Watch Full Episodes of “The Young & the Restless” on xfinityTV.com
Last year, Braeden left the show for over a month because he refused to take a pay cut. At the time he said,
“Here is no appreciation of the fact that I’ve been an important part
of the show for nearly 30 years that has been No. 1 in the ratings.
That’s extraordinary. So to be dealt with in a perfunctory matter as if
you had just known these people for a few months is what is most
offensive … I have shown flexibility, they have shown none. It is over. I
pulled the plug. That’s it. No more. If I show good will, I expect it
to be reciprocated. If there is a rigid attitude on the other side, what
is there to to negotiate? That’s a sign of utter disrespect. I will
not negotiate with people who remain aloof and arrogant about the whole
thing.”
Braeden ultimately returned to the show after news leaked that, even
after the pay cut, he would still be making in the neighborhood of a
million dollars a year. Most notoriously, in the early 1990s Braeden got
into a fist fight with costar Peter Bergman, who plays Victor’s nemesis
Jack, though the two have since mended fences.
Most daytime stars would jump at the chance to play a recurring role
of any size on one of prime-time’s most popular comedies. Braeden’s
longtime leading lady Melody Thomas Scott, who plays Nikki Newman, just
shot a guest starring role on “Castle.”
Ironically, Braeden’s refusal to do a cameo on a prime-time show
comes at a time when many actors with prime-time and film experience are
taking small roles on soaps. Michael Badalucco, who won a prime-time
Emmy for his work on “The Practice,” is currently playing the bit part
of a loan shark on “The Young & the Restless.”
In his defense, Braeden issued a response to EW regarding Harris’ “D-bag” comment:
“It’s very unfortunate. First of all, I came back from hip
surgery. I was off for three weeks. I’ve doubled my work, 30 to 50 pages
a day for me, alone. Everyone knows that I’m exhausted. I was not about
to appear on a show for two lines, because that’s what it amounted to.”
After that, Harris Tweeted: “Now I feel bad for the D-bag comment. Don’t know the guy personally. I’m just fiercely protective of our show.”
What do you think? Was NPH right to call out Braeden? Or is it
none of his business? Is Braeden being a diva or did he make the right
decision?

Re: How I Met Your Mother
I think both...that Braedon is a diva who, if a bad hip was the real excuse, shouldn't be working on anything. But he has a contractual obligation and to not show up last minute when he realized that he would not be getting a substantial amount of lines...is unprofessional. And I also think NPH was wrong to broadcast the show's business. If the show wants to sue or get compensation from Braedon...great. But worker bees( NPH) can blab over a few beers with their closest friends...but taking it to twitter may well be libelous.
Guest star I'm looking forward to....Danny Strong. Can't wait for that one.

Re: How I Met Your Mother
Last night while watching yet another repeat episode of HIMYM, CW shows two an afternoon, weekdays, there was a tall, slender, blond actress on playing Natalie, whom Ted had broken up with a few years ago and she was devastated. Then he decides he did her wrong and they got back together, then he realizes that she still had all the things "wrong" that he couldn't handle before and he breaks up with her again on her birthday.
Anyway...the actress is named Anne Dudek and she did a great job with that role. The first thing I thought of is if she is related to Alan Dudek who Joss Whedon likes to use in a lot of his productions. I thought she might be his sister or even wife, but it doesn't look like it, at least not the wife.Of course she's been in a bunch of shows, a few that I watch, but never noticed her before. I am such a bad fan !

The Alan that Joss Whedon used in Firefly and Sirenity was Alan Tudyk. So probably no relation. But I do remember that episode and agree that the actress was really good. :D

Re: How I Met Your Mother
Yep, I forgot the "Y"...
Incidentally Cobie Smulders was on Letterman last night. I usually don't watch him for various reasons but when he has certain guests it becomes a necessity and Cobie seems to rarely appear on talk shows. So I found out that her boyfriend is Taran Killam who is on Sat. Night Live. They are planning to get married this summer, she already has a 2 year old with him. Who ever does her makeup on HIMYM should have been there to do it again because what she came up with or maybe the Letterman make up dept., which I doubt, was not nearly as good on her as on the show. But....fan boys don't complain....
http://www.cobiesmulders.org/cobie-smulders-profile.php
This is a little out of date, she hasn't left the show.

This is a little out of date, she hasn't left the show.

cobie's about to become one of those Whedon actors. She's in Avengers that he's working on now.

Re: How I Met Your Mother
I was watching a previous season's episode of HIMYM just now and a link popped up to a movie she was in in '05 called The Long Weekend. And looking at some scenes, there's Brendon Fehr in it too ! I've never seen it but judging by that one clip with both of them it must be R rated.

Re: How I Met Your Mother
On one of tonight's repeat from '06, Amy Acker appeared playing a woman who was teaching Ted how to do a rain dance in order to wash out a camping trip that Robin was going on with "Sandy Rivers" , the real husband of Alyson Hannigan, you will recall. Anyway....Amy looked really pretty and it reminded me that she is one of the "big four" actresses in Joss Whedon's "stable", that he can reliably call on for one of his projects.
The others being Eliza Dushku, Dichen Lachman, and Gina Torres. Of course there have been others, but they don't show up so consistently.

Re: How I Met Your Mother
Well, Sarah Michelle Gellar is returning to series tv. I think she will always be the BIG ONE.
My own favorites to see are Emma Caulfield, Amber Benson, Jewel Staite and Stehanie Romanov.

Well yes, Sarah made him, and her, a lot of money but who I had in mind were those that have appeared the most times in his productions.
