NCIS
I just noticed that we don't have a thread for this old, reliable, always entertaining show. It looks like they may be bringing a new girl on...can't be sure but they started talking about Abby getting a job offer and everyone was very concerned...She says she isn't but when they introduce some young 20ish woman with quirks...I'm smelling a rat (can you tell I don't like change? )
Still the show this week was well-written and you couldn't immediately tell who-dunnit. Like I said...always good.
And Mark Harmon....sigh

I agree that this is an extremely interesting show...but for some
reason, I guessed who the bad guy was very early in this episode.
I don't think Abby will leave...they are making too big a deal about
it. I think they will have it as a story arc rumor for a couple of
weeks and then we will find out what is really happening (sort of like
we learned the truth about Tony's romance last season in this season's
premiere.)

Re: NCIS
This has always been a "must see" show for me. It has just the right mix of seriousness and comedy, and as long as Susannah Thompson keeps guest starring as the Army Col., and Gibb's love interest (potential, if he's not too dense to make a move) I will be there.
I questioned the wisdom of bumping off Sasha Alexander at the end of S2 (she doesn't seem to have had another job waiting...) but Cote De Pablo has filled the slot nicely, although how they decided to cast a Chilean as an Israeli was intially odd but she pulls it off okay. Did you know that Paulie Perrette has a masters degree in criminology ?

Re: NCIS
I did not know that. But she certainly is an asset to the show. What a sweet, quirky competent character.

Re: NCIS

They had to do that because Sasha had requested out of her contract.
The workload of a TV series was just too much for her. In the long run
the timing was perfect for her because around the time the cast was
filming about the 19th episode of season 3, Sasha gave birth to her
first child.

Re: NCIS
I figured she must have a good reason for leaving but never saw her in any other shows, and didn't know about her child.
Cote de Pablo lived in Miami since age 10, which explains her perfect English. Susannah Thompson was Evan Rachel Wood's mother on Once and Again, and was also a Borg Queen in one Star Trek movie before Alice Krige. How's that for versatility ?

Susannah Thompson was...a Borg Queen in one Star Trek movie before Alice Krige.
Not to get too picky :D but Susannah was actually the Borg
Queen on the Star Trek: Voyager TV series after Alice Krige created the
character in the film Star Trek: First Contact. (She also appeared in
an episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine entitled "Rejoined".)

Oops ! You're right. I was trying to remember if Krige was first or second but thought they were both in a ST movie.

Re: NCIS
Very interesting episode this week...nice to see the guys on a ship...finally. And suitably scary for a Halloween viewing. I guessed 2 things as soon as the first guy was dead....it was ebola or something to do with radiation. Turns out it was both. sorta kinda
I did like at the end,,,at first I was annoyed that they weren't shooting away at the guys before they boarded the ship and then weren't taking easy shots when they could. All became clear when they made their getaway.
But BAD NAVY for their solution to the little secrecy problem.

Re: NCIS
Well, after viewing the season-ending, back-to-back episodes, they left me with a sour taste.
For their season finale, the network not only decided to knock off the NCIS Director Shepard, but decided to put almost all of the supporting cast in limbo (Special Agents McGee and DiNozzo as well as Ziva). What? :what?:
Maybe they are setting up the audience for the triumphant return in season 6? What do you guys think?

Re: NCIS
I feel the same way you do. I certainly was prepared for the Director's death...but if they think they'll be replacing everyone but Gibbs, they are on a slippery slope.
I have no inside info...but my guess is that there will be a coming together again in season 6. Though how they'll do it???

Yeah, I think that shipping everyone out is a cliff-hanger ploy. They'll be back together next season. :)

Re: NCIS
Well done season opener. Glad they didn't keep us in suspense about the A-team.
I am still shaken by the ending. I so did not want it to be that character.

Didn't take long for them to get back together did it ? :D
Yeah, I thought he would stick around longer. He's had his own series, must have fallen on hard times, roles-wise.

I watched to where Anthony Lapaglia was shot by the Asian lady, and we thought he was the spy, but it turned out to be her. I didn't miss anything else did I ?

No, that was it...the surprize twist at the end.
And darn it, I liked her! Guess I should have known when the horny mortician broke-up with her because he felt "used" .

Re: NCIS
Well, she'll still be around for awhile. They have to have some internal threat to make it more interesting. I just wish they hadn't gotten rid of Lauren Holly. You will notice that they always bump off female main characters. The spy-lady will of course eventually be bumped off, count on it, but with Cote back it does create tension having two females in or around the 'office' .

Re: NCIS
I like that tension of the old-timers and the newbies in the office. Like when the guy DeNozza is always raggin' on goes to a new department, he is suddenly revered as "The Boss" even tho he isn't because NOW he has "field experience". And that's how I saw Zeeva (the old pro) and the smart but quirky new gal AKA spy-lady.

Well ... the only question is "Will Season 6 end with the death of "Spy-Lady" or will they kill her character off earlier?

Re: NCIS
ben really laughed at DENozza's response to "Are you alone?" He looked around and yelled "I'm on a Carrier....I'm NEVER alone!"
Ben spent a couple of months on one and says that is the reality. :D
