It begins !! Big Brother 18..in the house, day 8, CBS day 1

The Freakasoid team could have won the 'castle building' comp. if they had listened to Glenn right away but ignored his pointing out their error until 15 minutes later when they finally acknowledged it and corrected it. By then it was too late and Da'Vonne's team won. So now Tiffany is on the block along with her other 3 team mates for tonight's eviction. If she gets booted it will be a very severe blow to social stability because fan votes, including mine, had her going all the way.  Glenn is understandably upset about being ignored and poor Nicole, after having been picked as one of the 4 returnees now faces a possible early eviction.

Meanwhile Da'Vonne as one of the other 3 returnees is as abrasive as before as the team leader on her 'Big Sister' team and her conflict with Paul (no example of sweetness and light himself) doesn't bode well for that teams continuing success.

Several 'amusing' observations not mentioned in John's blog :

Team Names

Victor rallies his team to come up with a name. They start with Cavalry, then become Team Unicorn. They didn't start with "Cavalry", Victor pronounced it "Calvary". A common mistake but "funny" in this context.

Paulie comes up with Category 4, like a hurricane, for him, Frank, Michelle and Bridgette.

Nicole, Corey, Tiffany and Glenn are the Freakazoids.

Jozea pitches Big Sister for him, Da'Vonne, Paul and Zakiyah. Jozea and Da'Vonne make a 'perfect storm' of irritability and to have them both on the same team along with Paul's "divine" outlook will make for some fireworks of a hopefully brief period before one or both are booted.





Will Glenn, the odd man out and the oldest by far, just go home right away? Will Nicole blow her second shot and get eliminated? Will Vanessa Rousso's sister somehow be eliminated? Or will Corey...do or say anything interesting?



So far Tiffany doesn't seem to have the 'fire in the belly' that her sister Vanessa demonstrated last season. Of course the different 'persona' between a professional poker player and a high school teacher may account for this, and it's too early after just one comp. to make a definitive judgement. We can only hope that Tiffany makes it past tonight's eviction. I suppose Glenn is the obvious choice, being ~20-25  years older than the rest of them, but he also brings a more mature observational ability to the team so if he's booted they will lose something.

So Glenn got booted first as predicted. The camera angle prevented the TV audience from seeing the exact moment that he pulled his flag from its holder but Cory pulled his just a second or two earlier and saved himself.  Of course Glenn was devastated.

Then the 3 survivors of the "Freakasoid" team had to pick one of them to become the first HOH. Nicole really wanted it but played "reluctant", and it worked, she was picked as HOH by the other two. At least Tiffany survived the comp.

Then Nicole picked the two HGs to go on the block for eviction next week. Jozea was a no-brainer given his animosity toward Nicole. The second pick was tricky because she needed someone that would beat Jozea in the POV but would be a pawn themselves. Then after winning the POV, with Jozea still on the block she can pick another HG to replace Paulie, whom she was reluctant to nominate but did so because she thought he could defeat Jozea. We assume this would be Paul who has vowed to boot all the 'veterans'. We will see how this plays out over the weekend.

But this new twist puts a whole new face on things and possibly simplifies Nicole's job.

Day 10 in the house.

Natalie and Bronte are freaked out by the amount of ants on the kitchen counters. Paul takes it in stride.  This happens every season. They have to keep the counters spotless. There must be ant colonies lurking under the house just waiting for a new season to start.  







The new, bigger pool is nice.



James tries to beat Bridgette senseless.



She holds her own.
