American Idol Season Nine

Well, tonight is the start of Hollywood week, with Ellen joining the show in Paula's place.

I'll be watching and reporting back and interesting items or people........

Well, Ellen didn't really add that much value to the show. Ratings are down from last season.....I still think this will be the last season.

Some really good talent though. Some of the girls were amazing!!!!!

They showed Big Mike who was in the news as being removed from the top 24 because his father leaked to the media that his son had made the top 24.
Very sad, because this guy is talented and a "nice" guy. Too bad his dad had to ruin his chances.....

That really is traumatic for that family. No parent would ever deliberately hurt his child's chances like that. I'm sure it was an honest mistake...but I wonder if the family ever signed non-disclosure things or just the contestant.

Well, the contestant signs and is the one who desides to tell the family of their success which puts them at risk, and so you have the responsibility to tell your family not to say anything.

Oh the drama of "group" night last night.......two groups did the song "Bad Romance" (Lady GaGa) which was done pretty well considering it is a hard song to do acapella.

Well it appears they are letting Big Mike back on the show.....seems they had a change of heart....he is very likable and it is all about what makes a good show.

I am rather impressed with the top 24....there is some wonderful talent in the bunch!!!! And Casey James is not hard on the eyes......he took his shirt off (per Cara's request) during his audition....it was pretty funny.....but he has a nice chest......ok, enough about that.......hehe

A lot of the girls are real "down to earth" and have unique voices.......

Let the competition begin!!!!

As usual, nerves got the best of a lot of them, and there were not that many "wow" performances by either the gals or the guys on Tuesday and Wedneday night. what....with only 20 million people watching on LIVE tv....what is there to be nervous about.

If I had to pick right now, I'd say Casey James will be in the top five. He is very likable, has a good voice, only to get better as the show goes on. Andrew Garcia is picked to be an odds on favorite, but I didn't like his song choice last night.

Didn't agree with the two girls that left last night.....there were definitely two others that should have went....but the guys, one could have stayed maybe one more week, but the other one was a good choice.

But as the show goes, we have to get down to the top ten before the serious competition begins......

I guess I'm the only one watching....but I am enjoying it very much!!!!! The guys did great last night....hate to see anyone of them go tonight. But after tonight we will finally be down to the final 12. And that is when it gets really good..........

I didn't see it but I read on-line that Big Mike blew them away with singing "This Woman's Work". And I've been reading that the girl who went to the hospital once is a front runner.

Yes, Kara cried last night during Big Mike's song...it was really good, but I wasn't as blown away with it as some of the judges were.....Yes, Crystal is very good, but she is a folk type singer, a great voice, but a very dry personality. If she wins it will be on sheer talent. Funny thing is early in the game the internet was saying Andrew Garcia would be favored to win, but he hasn't done that great since Hollywood week....he "peaked" a little too early in the competition, and hasn't lived up to it since.

Tim Urban, the last minute replacement for a guy who was booted out of the top 24 for some unknow reason, did really well last night.

I did watch tonight's elimination program. Seemed to be a surprise to the two who got cut.

Well, actually four got cut, two girls and two guys.....Lilly was a huge surprise...it should have been Katie......and Paige should have gone and Katelyn should have stayed......I guess I was ok with the guys that went, although I would have liked to see Alex stay and Andrew go......

Go ahead and continue to keep us updated, Jo! It's the only way I know how the show is going! :P

oops...I watched Community for the first half hour....how I missed that there were 4 eliminations! Guess we are getting down to the nitty gritty now.

This was the last of the big cuts, now we go to top twelve, one person goes each week......yes, this is the serious competition now.

A good show last night....Crystal is amazing.....and nobody really bombed, I thought everyone did well considering it was the first night on the big stage at the Kodak Theatre. I'm kinda hoping Katie goes tonight.

Perfectly ok with Lacy going.....but I think Paige will be next. Katie is safe for a while since she wasn't even in the bottom three.

Great to see David Cook perform.....love him!!!

The other act, though, was some blonde chick I never heard of singing a horrible song called Bah, Bah, Bah. Do people really enjoy that kind of music?????

Ok, after last nights performances, Paige MUST go!!!! She was horrible.
My second choice would be Andrew, even though early on they had him as the odds on favorite. He peaked early. And last but not least, Katie, who is still struggling with looking like a potential star.

Yeppers, it looked like the right one was cut tonight. I tried to watch this show but when they bring out Miley Cyrus and a Jonah brother as entertainment and advice givers....let's just say I'd rather watch paint dry. :P

Haha, I agree Berry, how they think Miley is a mentor?......you got me....

She performed live and was not that great. She is what they call a studio singer, only sounds good in a studio setting where they can make you sound good. Taylor Swift is that way too, only a lot more talented as a song writer than Miley.

Most of the Miley thing was to promote her new movie "The Last Song." It was so obvious.

Not sure why Joe Jonas and Demi Lovato performed, other than to appeal to all the young screaming girls that watch this show. A big change from some of the washed up singers they had on last year....Tina Turner, Rod Stewart to name a couple.....

But back to the results....YES the right person went home last night. Sorry Paige, you are a sweet girl, but not ready for the big time.

Last night my favorites were Casey, Lee, and Tim.....in that order.....Crystal was good, but sounds the same to me each week....and Simon seems to be just fine with that. My pick for the bottom three is Andrew, Katie, and Tim.

Aaron was definietly off last night, but I think his fan base is too good for him to be in danger. Vote for the Worst.com still has Tim Urban as there favorite to try and "save." It could end up helping Tim a llittle, but he has consistantly been in the bottom three, so his time is coming.

Overall I thought everyone did pretty well, last night.....no bad performances....so we will see and know in a couple of hours from now.......

My favorite last night was Tim!!!! I loved what he did!!!! Least favorite was Siobhan......but who will be the TWO going home????? My guess is Andrew,Big Mike and Aaron could very well be in the bottom three tonight....but you never know with America voting!!!!!

I actually thought Adam Lambert did WAY better than Miley Cirus as a mentor. He actually had a few good suggestions for some of the contestants.

I was not disappointed at all with who went home last night. I was right with Andrew but Katie was the other to go. I thought she had done better this week ....but it is all about how BIG of a fan base you create for yourself. Do people like you? If they do, they will vote for you.

Some good singing tonight, but nobody blew me away......except for maybe Cyrstal......tomorrow night is Idol Gives back.....with many great performances by many stars and the results at the end.....

Idol Gives Back.......A very touching show.....showing where all the money collected on past shows is going to, and the good it is bringing to so many lives.....I loved what they are doing in parts of Kentucky with reading and book programs. I also loved the story of a little girl with Aids who was near death, and now she is getting stronger and healthier each day. The segment with David Cook was great too!!!! What sweet children in 3rd world countries...they are so innocent and deserve a chance at a decent life.

Loved it, and I had to scrape up a donation because you can't not want to help.......

Tim Urban went home...it was his time. He did well to make it to the top seven.
