Re: Dr Who
Lesson learned is just "It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all."
From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850:
I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all.

Re: Dr Who
The countdown is on. Slightly more than 12 hours until the beginning of the new season of Dr Who. Check your local listings for time.
Re: Dr Who
It is amazing to me how quickly I warmed up to the new Dr. Who. I still love my David Tennant Who to pieces but I am over the moon excited for tonight.

I agree, Berry. I like the new cast. Tonight should be fun, especially with a couple of episodes filmed in the US.

Re: Dr Who
I thought the episode was brilliant!
But the "in memorium" at the end caught me totally off guard.
Elisabeth Sladen who played Sarah Jane Smith of the Sarah Jane Adventures passed away on April 19th, 2011. It's reported that she was battling cancer. She was 63.
I would have never suspected she was that old and although I knew she was one of the companions I never thought about which Doctor's she was companion to.

Many compliments paid to her by cast and friends. The one I like the best is that she was the Meryl Streep of British entertaintainment. She will be sorely missed.

Re: Dr Who
Liz Sladen was a wonderful actress and, I'm sure, will be greatly missed.
Don't say " that old" in that tone of voice, young lady. I'll be bidding good-by to 63 in a couple of months...and I can still get in and out of a car by myself, thank you very much. :P

Re: Dr Who
Okay...wow!
....
....
um...wow!
to sum up...wow! and I'm so :what?: right now.
notes...
on America, I was dreading America. and look what happened!
on Elisabeth Sladen...I knew they would mention her passing, still it made me a bit misty when it showed up on the screen tonight. I was shocked when the news showed up on my FB feed, it was just so out of the blue.
Did anyone watch the pre-show? Or notice the upcoming show commercials? Looked interesting.
And I love that we get to spend some time with that ex FBI guy who has been in everything else we love. lol Great guest star!
and I like Rory!

Re: Dr Who
I wish they would stop messing about and just get to the part where we know what River is to him. When they don't, I fill in the blanks (probably all wrong)

Re: Dr Who
They have...especially last night, I think it was Rory who she was telling down in the tunnels. She and the Doctor are just living in reverse on the time line thing...he's moving forward and she's moving back...that's why she knows what will be and keeps having to say, 'spoilers.' It's how she knew that the Doctor the met in the diner after the murder was a different Doctor, they were in sync according to the diary...and they're never in sync.
Lots of info to sort out, tons of possibilities theory wise...brilliant show!

Re: Dr Who
But if that's the case, then isn't she the one who is going to recognize him less and less as she gets younger, one presumes while he is getting older?

Re: Dr Who
I enjoyed the episode very much, but I find the River arc kinda frustrating. I can't warm up to her yet and she seems to be as much of a problem as a help to the Doctor. Amy I like. :D

In Silence in the Library, where we first all saw River, remember how excited she got because she'd never seen him this young before. She's time traveling just like him so it's all muddled...so she keeps a diary of her past, his future. I keep trying to wrap my brain around this and I never get anywhere with it..
I do have a problem with River as well I can't stop seeing her as her old ER character..I keep waiting for Mark Greene to show up and make me cry all over again.
Loved tonights epi and watched Graham Norton afterwards...David Tennent and Oh darn...Red Head..who I loved...darn, darn...last companion of DT's...Catherine Tate!!! yay! anyway, I love that show as well, always end up doubled over laughing.
I hope someone else watches that show around here because explaining honeypuff and pickle would be impossible otherwise...

And how great is it that they repeat the episodes back to back on Sunday afternoon. I went thru all of them and really enjoyed each one again.

Nerd!
I passed on the marathon, watched the Giants actually win...which went into overtime and finished up a minute or two before the nine pm showing.
Loved the episode. Still mulling tho.

Re: Dr Who
I had to pass on the marathon because Ben had gotten me Fawlty towers and my son had never seen them. So we just watched one after another for hours. They really stand the test of time as some of the most hilarious comedy ever.
But at 9pm, I did call a halt for new Dr. Who...I was glad to have it back, it was sort of funny...but I NEVER like episodes when

Re: Dr Who
I enjoyed the episode although it gave me a headache. Yes, the Melody Pond/River Song conundrum....I wanted the Dr. to find the baby. Are we never going to see her in her mother's arms again?
I'm really lost in the regeneration thing.....she is the child of Rory and Amy....right? So....ok....my head hurts.... :P

Re: Dr Who
I think how the River thing works is that she is a child of Amy Rory and the Tardis. Do you remember Canary Wharf when Rose got lost to the other side of that...oh God I'm gonna cry again.. white wall?
I'm trying to remember here...lol Everything that got sucked thru had been marked somehow with time travel/dimension dust. And Amy and Rory's baby would be the same...maybe that's it.
Now...onward...just off the top of my head..
Crimson stars and silent stars and tumbling nebula's like oceans on fire. Empires of glass and civilizations of pure thought...
Oh. My. God!
